Cooking for Fairtrade

Y4 spent a fun morning making fairy cakes for our recent Fairtrade Coffee afternoon.

We had to follow the recipe carefully and make sure that we included all of the ingredients. Everyone had a turn at mixing the flour, sugar, margarine and eggs together.

The fairy cakes looked lovely and we hope they tasted just as nice! Did you try one at the coffee afternoon?

Y4 Good Samaritan Hot Seating

After reading The Good Samaritan, Year 4 split in to groups to hot seat the different  characters. They took it in turns to be the interviewer, the priest, the robber and the Good Samaritan. Each child answered a question from the interviewer and they came up with some fantastic answers!

Y4 learn Mandarin

Miss Emily has been teaching Y4 some basic words and phrases in Chinese. We have been learning how to say greeting words such as ‘Hello’, ‘Goodbye’ and ‘Thank you’.

We have also been learning to say how we feel such as ‘I am happy’ or ‘I am tired’.

We sang two really fun songs and played games. We are looking forward to Miss Emily coming back to work with us again!

The Creation of the World

This week, 3 girls from Year 4 led us in a special act of Collective Worship. The theme they chose was ‘The Creation of the World’. The girls led us in prayer and thanksgiving for all of the wonderful things God has created for us to enjoy.

A Chinese Visitor

Miss Emily is from Shanghai in China. She came to visit Year 4 this week. She taught us how to say ‘Hello’ and ‘Goodbye’ in Chinese.

Miss Emily also taught us lots of interesting facts about China. They don’t use the same money as we do, they use Chinese Yuan. We looked at some Chinese currency. The 100 Yuan note is equivalent to £10! It looks very different to English money.
