Today, we read the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, and talked about how the magic beans grew into a giant beanstalk. We have planted our own beans in soil and watered them to help them grow. We cant wait to see what happens!
Wow! What a great day we have had in Nursery celebrating World Book Day! We’ve all dressed up and listened to lots of stories. We’ve made stories up using our puppets and objects from around the classroom. We’ve even listened to a story outside with the chickens. We’ve been to the jungle, under the sea, in a fairy castle and even to the moon! We’ve read about dinosaurs and strange creatures under the sea, but our favourite story was still Goldilocks.
In our topic this term we are looking at lots of traditional tales. Today in outdoor learning we decided to read Chicken Licken around a campfire.
We enjoyed listening to the story, especially the characters names like Henny Penny, Goosey Loosey, Turkey Lurkey and Foxy Loxy. We then had lots of fun making up our own rhyming words to go with our names. The boys and girls ended the day by singing some Nursery Rhymes and songs.
There was a surprise waiting for the boys and girls in nursery today!.
Some new pogo sticks had arrived, to help us develop our core strength and gross motor skills! The children found it a bit tricky at first, but with practice they were able to balance and jump making the pogos sticks squeak. The chickens have also enjoyed joining the children to play outside!
