Today is a very special day in our Church calendar. It is Epiphany! We are very lucky that we have a special story here for you sent from our friends at ‘Open the book’. I know that you will enjoy this as much as me.
We really enjoyed our class experiment in science. On Friday, we were investigating which materials float and which sink. We thought about Stick Man being used by the girl in the story as a ‘pooh stick’ and how he floats out to sea! We tested many different materials and recorded our results in a table! We enjoyed predicting whether an object was going to sink or float!
Reception enjoyed reading and exploring the story of Stick Man last week. During outdoor learning the children spent time looking for the perfect stick and other resources to create their very own Stick Man! The children were thrilled with their finished products!
On Friday, the children from Reception and Year 4 gathered outdoors in the Gospel Garden to celebrate Youth Friday together. The theme of this year’s Youth Friday was ‘Together’. The children thought about lockdown, when we weren’t able to be together and the joy of being reunited. We have thought about how we keep in touch with our friends and family who we do not get to see. One way of being ‘together’ is when we pray. On Friday afternoons we gather as a school, in our bubbles, during Collective Worship time. We listened to a reading from the Book of Sirach that reminded us that our friends are special treasures. The children in year 4 prepared prayers for our Collective Worship. All of the children created their own rainbow to add to the focal point, This week we will all take a rainbow home to remind us that we can always be together in prayer and when listening to the word of God.
