Tzatziki

During our DT lesson, we used the ingredients from the recipe that we had researched to make tzatziki. First, we had to measure out our ingredients. Then we used our chopping skills to slice a variety of ingredients and crush garlic. Finally we combined the ingredients together and mixed thoroughly. To end the lesson we tasted our own batch of tzatziki with some warm pitta bread!

Italian Club make pizza!

Mrs Innerdale runs an Italian after school club every Tuesday evening. Tonight the children have been able to have a go at making their very own Italia food – pizzas with the help of Mrs Humble. The children all enjoyed this activity and were very pleased to be able to take their pizzas home for tea! Let’s hope they tasted as nice ad they looked!

Cook Like an Egyptian

As part of our topic on ancient Egypt, we learnt how to make bread just like the ancient Egyptians did by following some instructions.

We started by mixing the yeast with some warm water.  Then we measured out the flour and gradually added it to the yeast with some salt.  Once it was all mixed together, we covered it and set it aside in a warm place.  We waited for the yeast to work and the mixture to double in size, which took about 40 minutes.

After that, we split the dough into small balls and then used the palm of our hands to flatten the dough into small flat bread.  We then had to cook the bread for about 6 minutes.  As the bread was cooking, there was a lovely smell and then finally we could taste it – It was delicious!

Cooking Greek Food

Today our friend, Chef Nick Fairley, came into school to cook Ancient and Modern Greek food with us. We really enjoyed learning about how the cooking of food has changed throughout time. We tried many different types of food, the Lamb Kofta Wrap was delicious, some of us even had seconds!
