Take a look at this short film which shows some of the highlights from our pirate project …
Year 2 loved their Pirate Fun Day on Friday. The children came to school dressed as pirates, they showed their pirate ships which they made at home with their families, made pirate treasure maps, enjoyed a pirate playtime, had a pirate picnic and then sang some pirate songs with their families. It really was was a fun day!
Year 2 have planned and carried out a science investigation to discover where cress seeds will grow best – in a dark cupboard or on the window ledge. The children planted their cress seeds and put them into their locations. The children agreed that both sets of cress seeds should be watered daily. The children are enjoying keeping check each day to see where cress seeds will grow best.
Today Year 2 led a very thoughtful collective worship with the theme of ‘Pentecost’. The children began by blessing themselves with warm holy water and thought carefully about how the disciples felt on Pentecost day. Once we listened to the Word the children then wrote a thank you prayer to the Holy Spirit on a small flame. We ended by singing the hymn ‘I will be with you’.
