Year 2 Home Learning – Thursday 4th June

Good morning Year 2,

Can you believe it is Thursday already … this week is going very fast!

Today in English you will complete some phonics work. You’ll look at all the alternative spellings for the ai sound. These include ai, ay, a_e. Once you’ve identified and spelled all of the words correctly, I’d like you to have a go at an extra English task. I’d like you try writing some of these words into a super sentence. I think you could all challenge yourself to write, 2, 3 or even four of the words into 1 sentence. Give it a go!

In maths today you will continue to rehearse your addition and subtraction skills with 2 digit numbers, only this time they are problems. You’ll need to read the problems very carefully to decide if you will add or subtract. Look back at the videos from yesterday if you need to be reminded of the strategies you should use.

As an extra task today I’d like you to try to unscramble my words. They all have 4 letters, but the letters are all mixed up. Can you work out what each word is?

Finally I have uploaded the next handwriting video. This time we are looking at the letters m and n. Give it a go, take your time and remember to keep pausing the video to allow you time to rehearse the letters, letter combinations and words and make them as neat as possible.

Have fun!

Mrs Gourley 🙂
