Good morning Year 2!
I didn’t expect to be talking to you today through our home learning platform. Hopefully this won’t last too long and you’ll all be back in school with us very soon.
Everyday over the next few weeks I’ll be setting you some work to complete at home. This will include all the subjects we do do in school; English, Maths, RE, Geography, History, Science, Music, Art, Computing and DT.
Please send all your completed tasks to email@example.com by 8pm tonight so I can see all of the the work you have done. Please send all of your work in one email. This will really help me! I will reply by the end of the day tomorrow.
Here are your tasks for today.
Reading regularly is very important. Please make sure that you do lots of reading at home. You may choose to read one of your own books or you could access Oxford Reading Owl (www.oxfordowl.co.uk) then go to My Class Login to choose a book to read. The username and password is y2smst Please try to read something every day.
In English we are going to finish our work linked to instructions over the next couple of days. On Monday we thought carefully about verbs and you were able to find lots of verbs in some stories that you read.
Today we will be looking at verbs and adverbs. Look carefully at the PowerPoint below and then try to complete the activity sheet.
In maths we are going to continue with our multiplication for the next week. We are going to begin by recapping some things we have already learnt. Today we will look at recognising equal groups. You need to watch the video below and then complete the activities on the sheets attached.
Today is the feast of the Epiphany. This is the day when the three wise men arrived at Bethlehem to visit baby Jesus.
First I’d like you to watch this short video link that tells the story.
Then you need to read the story from the Bible. If you have your own Bible at home you could try to find this story to read yourself. If not, I have uploaded the story below for you to look at.
When you are reading the story, think about …
- Why did the Wise Men travel so far to visit Jesus?
- Who was the first person that they visited? Why was this and how did he react?
- How did the Wise Men find their way to where Jesus was born?
- What were the gifts they offered?
Now you need to take some time and think carefully about this story and the lovely gifts they took for baby Jesus. If you were to visit baby Jesus what gift would you take for him? You need to draw a picture of your gift and then explain what this is and why you have chosen this gift.
Finally, to end the day I thought I’d send you a link to an art website. It shows you how to draw many different things. Today, because it is the feast of the Epiphany I have uploaded the video to show you how to draw the Three Wise Men. Try your best and remember everyone can draw!
Have a lovely day everyone! Work hard and remember to always try your best in all of your work.
I look forward to hearing from you soon and looking at your work!
Mrs Gourley 🙂
