Year 4 Home Learning – Monday 11th May

Good morning Year 4! I hope you are all well and have had a lovely long weekend 🙂

First of all, I really enjoyed catching up with everyone last week and hearing all about what you have been getting up to – thank you everyone for your time. For those few people I am yet to speak with, I hope you got my message, hopefully we will catch up this morning.

English

This week in English, we are going to be doing some activities based around a short animated film called ‘Soar’. Before you watch the video (which can be found by scrolling to the bottom of this post), please click on the English worksheet below and read the instructions very carefully, as one of today’s activities is about predicting what might happen in the story.

Maths

In Maths, we are looking at Decimals starting with tenths and hundredths. To remind yourself what tenths are hundredths are start by visiting this short video https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zsjqtfr/articles/zsbd7p3 and then carefully read and complete the worksheet below.

Spellings

This week I am also setting some spellings for you to do. Set aside 5 minutes to practise them each day and then perhaps you can test yourself on Friday by either asking an adult to read them out or simply looking at a word, turning over the page and writing it from memory.

Here are some helpful links that may be of interest:

https://www.thenational.academy/online-classroom/year-4#schedule – National Oak Academy which is providing online lessons during lock-down, including some very interesting topic work (this link takes you straight to the Year 4 schedule).

And finally, thank you for your wonderful pictures that contributed to our ‘Spreading Rainbow Joy’ video. If you haven’t watched it yet, please do so by clicking on the link below and kindly share this with others around you. I’m sure you will agree that it truly inspires and lifts the hearts of all that see it. Well done children and families of St. Mary and St. Thomas Aquinas.
Look out for the next Rainbow challenge and keep sending in your fantastic rainbow pictures.

Speak tomorrow,

Mrs Myers 🙂

P.S. Unfortunately Year 4, after leading for most of the week, Year 3 crept up behind us to win the TT Rockstars Challenge last week 🙁 Well done to all of those who played but let’s try and get everyone challenging next time. I’ll be setting another challenge later in the week so in the meantime, keep practising.
