Good morning Year 4,
Today in Maths, we continue our decimal work looking at tenths on a place value grid. Before you do your worksheet today, I have a short powerpoint which I think will help. Please go to https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-4/ – and then scroll all the way down to the foot of the page and select ‘Week 1‘ (not summer term week 1 – the first week 1) and then select ‘Lesson 3‘. This powerpoint, which is about 5 minutes in length, should be viewed before you start your work.
I hope you enjoyed learning about model airplanes yesterday and remembering all of the features of a non-chronological report. Today, you are going to do some research into a subject of your choice with the aim that you will write your own non-chronological report about your subject, tomorrow. Remember to read today’s worksheet in full first before starting your work as it explains how you are going to collate and write down your research.
Today’s extra activity – Music
Today, I thought we’d do a music lesson and I have found an activity I hope you will enjoy. Click on this link https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/ten-pieces/ten-pieces-at-home/zjy3382 and scroll down to this week’s lesson which explores a piece of music written by Jean Sibelius – a famous Finish composer of classical music – to celebrate his beautiful homeland of Finland. Watch the first video to find out a little bit more about this piece of music. Then, click on the video alongside it (the one with the pictures of all the members of the BBC choir) and learn to sing a part of Sibelius’s Finlandia. I hope you enjoy it, I certainly did 🙂
Have fun doing your work today!
Speak tomorrow 🙂
