Year 4 Home Learning – Tuesday 7th July

Good morning Year 4,

I hope you enjoyed completing your transition task for Mr Craig yesterday. I’m confident you are all ready to move up to Year 5!

Today in Maths, I’ve found an interactive lesson which helps us to practise our understanding of perimeter and area. It includes 2 videos and 3 tasks. It shouldn’t take long but if you want to challenge yourself, why don’t you find objects around your house that you can measure with a ruler to find out their area? Remember area is the length of an object multiplied by it’s height. The video also covers how to work out volume, for those of you who really are up for the challenge!!!

Area – Worksheet Task 3 (this is task 3 from the website on a worksheet for you)

In English, we’re are going to have fun writing poetry this week and to start us off I’ve recorded myself reading one of my favourite poems (scroll to the bottom of this post), I hope you enjoy it! I learned it when I was 9 years old and have loved it ever since. Once you’ve listened to it, I’d like you to write a poem about an animal of your choice… dogs, hedgehogs, gorillas, pandas – it’s completely up to you! You just need to describe their habits in the poem you use. I’ve included a mindmap template below, if you would like to plan out your poem before you write it, just like we would do in class 🙂

If you’re proud of your work, please send it to me.

Have a good day.

Mrs Myers
