Good morning Year 4!
Well, I didn’t expect to be talking to you via our website and I already miss all of your happy, smiling faces! However, even though we can’t be together over the next few weeks, we are still a team and I hope it makes you feel happy to know that even though many of you are working at home, we’re still all doing the same work and hopefully, having some fun!
Everyday over the next few weeks I’ll be setting you work including Maths and English and all of the other subjects we do in school, such as History, Science, RE, French, PE and Music. And I’ll be encouraging you all to keep up with your reading, spending time with a book of your choice for at least 20 minutes every day!
So, here goes… today you have Maths, English, RE and a Music lesson. Have fun!
Please send all your completed Maths, English and RE tasks to email@example.com by 8pm tonight so I can see all of the work you have done. I will reply by the end of the day tomorrow. Thank you everyone.
To start we’re going to recap some of the skills we’ve already covered, starting with rounding to the nearest 10, before moving on to practise our addition and subtraction next week. Watch the video below before attempting the worksheet below it.
Over the next few lessons we are going to do some work about a book called the Borrowers. Don’t worry you don’t have to have a copy of the book, all you need is a pencil or pen, some paper and of course your brain! Remember, English isn’t about just writing the first thing that comes into your head, but thinking hard about all the skills we have learned, for example, using good punctuation, interesting conjunctions, powerful adjectives and adverbs. So when the teacher in the video gives you a task to write about, show me just how much you can remember!! Click on the link below and follow the lesson. Pause when it asks you to write and write your answers on paper in your very best handwriting 🙂
Today, 6th January is the Epiphany, a special date in the Christmas story as it’s when people celebrate how a star led the Magi – also known as the Three kings or the Wise Men – to visit the baby Jesus after he had been born. Find out more by watching this video here https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/42565054
Then, open the presentation below and read through it. Your task today is to write about three of your talents and how you use them to help others – you can read more in the presentation. I have also included a template for you to write on.
And today’s final lesson is Music. Play the video below and remember to listen to the teacher very carefully. Have fun… maybe you can imagine that you can hear the rest of Year 4 singing along to the chants too!
See you all tomorrow Year 4!
Mrs Myers 🙂
