Year 5 Home Learning – Thursday 7th January

Good morning Year 5.

I hope you are all well.

The problem with the website yesterday was a bit of a headache, so don’t worry if you didn’t finish all of your work yesterday. Please use today to finish it off and submit it as there is a bit less to do today.

Today we will doing Maths, English and Geography.


Today, we will be starting to develop a further understanding of addition and subtraction. Most importantly, using column method within our calculations. We will be moving on to problem solving later in this topic.

For our second lesson in our persuasive writing topic we will be looking at pronouns and the role they plan in our writing. Just like yesterday, making sure to complete the tasks throughout the video, recording your work on paper or digitally.

Today we will continue our Volcanoes topic. We are looking at the ‘Ring of Fire’, this is an area on Earth where most of the Earthquakes and Volcanoes occur.

Read through the PowerPoint provided.

Complete the worksheet and the booklet below. If you do not have access to a printer, please do not worry, I will be more than happy if you create your own booklet.

Use the helpful ‘Map Poster’ to assist you during this task.

Make sure you follow all of the research opportunities, I will be looking forward to reading through these.
