Home learning Monday 30th November

7 days of home learning completed and one one left to go ! Thank-you so much for continuing with your work at home. We know it hasn’t been easy but we have nearly made it !

Today, we are doing some more practical tasks which we would like you to bring into school tomorrow. You don’t need to send in the Maths or Art via email as we would like you to bring the finished pieces into school with some juxtaposition sentences and your repeating pattern poems. If you cant send the video in, don’t worry, we will just ask you to read your poem in class.

Maths

Today we are doing something completely different ! Art in maths or maths in art !

This next video goes into more detail. Lets see how we can create our own adventurous tessellations based on a square.

Now your turn, create your own tessellation using translation, reflection or glide reflection and decorate it.

We would like you to share your recording with us all, so send it to the Y6 Gmail and we will share everything in school tomorrow. If you cant get it recorded, you can read your final piece with us at school.

Art

One of your ideas might already stand out to you as a great setting to bring to life by drawing/painting. Choose one of your ideas and sketch out what it might look like there. Here’s an idea for The forest of premonitions.

Task 1

Before you start drawing, make a list of how you would feel being in that place. What can you include in your picture to reinforce those feelings ? Gnarly trees might show fear. A rainbow might show happiness. You decide.

Task 2

Once you have sketched it, go back to your list of feelings. Now try to link those feelings to some colours. The picture below will help . . .

Task 3

Once you have decided which colours to use, add some colour. It can be paint or pens or pencils, whatever you have in the house. Think carefully about the colours to really reinforce that feeling.

Task 4

Finally we would like you to add a 3D element to your picture.  It can be some strips of paper to show leaves, a 3d flower. You decide.

Bring your finished work into school tomorrow to let us all marvel at your creations.
