Model Making

The Grade 4 children at Haihua Primary School enjoyed building 3D models
of some of the famous London landmarks. We began by talking about the features
of British buildings and studied images of London Bridge, Westminster Abbey,
Houses of Parliament and Big Ben.
The children worked in groups of 4 to create their model using empty cardboard
boxes.
First they had to build the structure and then stick the boxes together.
Then they had to paint their model, choosing their colours carefully to match
the stonework of the buildings. The children found it quite difficult using
the paintbrushes and paint, they don’t use these materials at their school
very often. Finally they added extra features such as windows and doors to
complete their models.
The children were very pleased with their finished models.
