On Thursday we had our annual visit from Jimmy. The children look forward to meeting him every September and hearing all about Jimmy’s adventures over the last year. Jimmy has learnt some new tricks since the last time he was in our school. He impressed us all with his magic!
Jimmy visits Romania every November. He takes shoeboxes full of gifts to the children and adults who live there. They are not as lucky as we are but we know how much joy our presents bring to them. Jimmy reminded us of how to pack our shoebox, which items to put in it and how to wrap it up carefully in Christmas paper.
Jimmy showed us some photographs of his trip to Romania. He talked about the life and culture there. We saw pictures of children opening our shoeboxes which we sent out last year. It was wonderful to see their happy, smiling and excited faces.
Jimmy brought some special artefacts with him; he has collected these on his visits to Romania. The children there like to dance and play music. Jimmy showed us some musical instruments, they look very different to the ones we have in England! We listened to how they sounded and some of us even tried to play them!
We are going to try to beat our target this year of collecting over 100 shoeboxes. We are always thinking of and praying for our friends in Romania. We look forward to welcoming Jimmy back in November when we will help him to load up his van ready for the long journey!
