Year 1 – Maths through games…

Today in Maths we got to play ‘Snakes and Ladders’. That doesn’t sound like Maths… well it was! The children were given two dice where they had to add the numbers together to work out how many places they could move. They were also challenged with keys questions throughout such as… How many more steps do you need to win? How far behind are you from the player in front? Which two numbers could you roll to get to the finish? etc.

The children had lots of fun and didn’t really work out that they were solving Maths questions! Their competitiveness and ‘concentration faces’ shone through also! Great job!

  1. It’s great to see the children enjoying mathematics. The concentration on some of their faces is wonderful to see. Keep up the good work!!
