European Day of Languages

We celebrated European Day of Languages on October 15th.

The children came to school dressed in the European flag colours – blue and yellow.

The day began with an assembly in the school hall for the children to learn a little bit more about Europe; the countries in Europe, the countries who are members of the European Union and some of the languages spoken in Europe.

In class the children then took part in some numeracy and literacy activities which involved developing their language skills. All children read a story in another language.

The children in Year 1 and Year 2 also learnt to sing a song in Italian!

All children were given some small souvenirs to remember and celebrate our European Language Day.
