Expanded Noun Phrases

Expanded Noun Phrases

Year 2 have created expanded noun phrases to describe various nouns from the Rainbow Fish story. The children know that a noun is a person, place or object. They know that an expanded noun phrase has 2 or 3 adjectives in front of the noun. They also discovered that a comma must come after the adjectives but not before the noun.

The children worked with their talk partners to create expanded noun phrases and did very well.

– The sparkling, shimmering, friendly Rainbow Fish.

– The hard, grey, jiggered rocks.

– The green, long, slimy seaweed.
