Food Groups

In science Year 2 have been learning about what humans need for survival. They the children know that food is one of these essential things. Today the children looked a collection of foods and sorted it into the different food groups; fats, protein, dairy, carbohydrates and vitamins. The children know that to be healthy they must have a balanced diet which is eating a variety of foods from each of the food groups.

All different types of food are important to survive, some give you energy, some calcium to make your bones stronger.Some foods are not very good for you and can make you ill (if you eat too much of them at once). as long as you eat in moderation and keep up a healthy lifestyle which includes exercise, then different foods can be enjoyed.
