In year 4 we are going to be learning about the Anglo Saxons and Vikings. We have heard all about the other classes, cooking with Chef Nick Fairley but today was finally our turn.
We were making a broth fit for a Viking banquet. The entire class were given the opportunity to chop up vegetables and some of us were given the opportunity to prepare the chicken and bacon. We also talked about rosemary, bay leaves and a spice mix that we would use to flavour our broth. Chef Nick inspected our chopping skills and said that out of all the year groups our chopping skills were the best. To go with our broth we also made a drink to wash it down. We made ho apple tea by using apples, honey and water.
Throughout the afternoon we tested our knowledge of the Vikings. As a class we discussed where they originated from, how they travelled, how they fought as an army and even about their religion.
We had a great afternoon with Chef and it was such a fun way to gain knowledge about our new topic!
