We travelled back in time to Wednesday 2nd November 1897 with Mrs Laidler, on a great adventure of the Victorian school day.
As we entered our classroom we saw that boys and girls had to sit separately! We had our finger nails inspected; it was a good job they were all clean as Mrs Laidler had a cane! We recited the six times table and learnt a poem.
A Victorian school day is very different to our school day now but what fun we had. We practised our handwriting using a slate board and slate pencil. We played with a Diablo, looked at an old fashioned iron, chamber pot and carpet beater, and we even got to see what they used as a Victorian hot water bottle.
