Reception Classroom Passport!

Reception Classroom Passport!

This week we had some maths challenges set in our Classroom Passports. We have to try and complete the challenges independently and have used lots of different resources to help us. This week we have looked at addition and subtraction! We have all completed our classroom passports! Well done Reception!

Pentecost – Celebrating the Good News

Pentecost – Celebrating the Good News

Today we gathered with our school family to take part in a Pentecost parade. We listened to the word and prayed together as a family. We then presented our offerings, representing the fruits of the Holy Spirit, in our Gospel Garden. We spent time preparing our focal point as a class. After Collective Worship we celebrated the coming of the Holy Spirit with a Pentecost Party. Pentecost is often named as the ‘birthday of the Church’. We share our happiness and joy because we celebrate the Good News of Jesus who kept his promise and sent the Holy Spirit to be our friend.

Reception begin the Walk for Water Challenge

Reception begin the Walk for Water Challenge

On Friday, we enjoyed talking about CAFOD’s Lent challenge – Walk for Water. We are taking part in the school challenge! On Monday, we were able to put some money into our class CAFOD collection box! We then had a chance to start walking towards our 2 miles! We are very pleased to say that we have already walked half a mile!

The first signs of spring!

The first signs of spring!

In Reception we have started looking at our new RE topic, growing! We have started by looking at and thinking about growing and the changes that we can see around us.

In our PE lesson we have created our own Spring dance, starting as bulbs and growing slowly into flowers.

In outdoor learning we enjoyed exploring our school grounds looking for the first signs of spring.

We then enjoyed planting our own cress seeds. We will continue to watch them grow over the next few weeks!

Over the next few weeks we are going to think about Lent and how it is a time for us to grow in special ways – in love, goodness, kindness and helpfulness. Lent is a special time for us to try and grow more like Jesus.

Sinking and Floating Experiment

Sinking and Floating Experiment

We really enjoyed our class experiment in science. On Friday, we were investigating which materials float and which sink. We thought about Stick Man being used by the girl in the story as a ‘pooh stick’ and how he floats out to sea! We tested many different materials and recorded our results in a table! We enjoyed predicting whether an object was going to sink or float!
